Pujols hits his 400th homer

albert-pujolsDominican baseball player Albert Pujols hit the 400th homer of his career last night, but that did not stop the St. Louis Cardinals losing 11-10 to the Washington Nationals in a game settled in just 13 innings.

The first baseman hit his 400th homer in just ten years in the majors, which gives him an average of 40 per season and has become the 47th major league hitter to reach that milestone.

The slugger for the St. Louis Cardinals opened the fourth inning against the Washington Nationals and found pitcher Jordan Zimmermans line sending the ball into the stands between right field and center field.

Pujols is the third-youngest hitter to reach 400 home runs.

This precipitation will occur in the afternoon with a tendency to dissipate before midnight.

Hurricane Danielle is now a strong Category 4 storm on the Saffir Simpson scale, and is located about 870 km southeast of Bermuda, moving northwest at about 19 mph, with maximum sustained winds of 215 kilometers per hour.
 

Warning for all ATM users

atmAs is the norm wherever in the world you may be, travelers and locals alike in the Dominican Republic need to keep their guard high, as credit card and debit card scams are reported to be on the increase. Some press articles mention that credit card scams in the DR has seen some criminals use photographic film or paper to jam an ATM and when the customer thinks the machine has taken his card, he leaves and then the crooks return to the atm to retrieve said card.
 

"There´s an app for that!"

A man was able to stop burglars from breaking into his home - by using his iPhone while more than 1,400 miles away from his house.

icam-appVince Hunter, from Dallas in the US, used an iphone application that cost him US$4 called iCam that allowed him to monitor his home security system.

Motion sensors picked up the movements of two burglars at his home in Dallas and the app sent him a text immediately. As he received the text, he was able to connect into his home security system while at his parents house in Conneticut, some 1,400 miles way, and see everything that was happening right there on his iPhone.
