Puerto Plata City Tour and Cable Car Experience

After breakfast in your hotel, you'll be picked up and taken on a ride by cable car to the top of Mount Isabel de Torres, where the view across the north coast of the Dominican Republic and far out to sea on the Atlantic horizon are truly spectacular. From the stunning panoramic views of Isabel de Torras, we wind our way through the streets of Puerto Plata to visit this old historical town in a friendly, fun and stress free way. Find out interesting facts such as why Puerto Plata is also known as the "Silver Port" and visit many historical sights along the way. This really is a great little half day tour to get you out and about and familiar with the history, culture and general way of urban life in the Dominican Republic.

You'll visit the oldest fortress on the island known as Fort San Felipe and have the opportunity to stand in one of the turrets and gaze out across the vast Atlantic ocean, just as city defenders did centuries ago on the lookout for raiding parties from those infamous pirates of the Caribbean. We also take you on an incredible trip around the "Brugal" rum factory, and you'll soon realise why the Dominican people are so happy all the time, and you can be too! We also visit the famous amber musuem and discover more about this fascinating prehistoric gem that sparked the best selling thrillers and blockbuster movies known as Jurassic Park. You'll have plenty of time for souvenir hunting too, so take some pesos with you and get ready to have some fun bartering with the locals. We finish off with a gentle stroll around the Central Park of Puerto Plata where you can either sit and watch the world go by or take a peek into the cathedral that overlooks the square.

• Take a sunhat/cap for your head
• Bring some money with you for shopping both Dominican Pesos and U$ Dollars can be used but pesos are more widely accepted in the city
• Bring something to drink, particularly water to keep you hydrated as they are not included on the trip
• Take your camera with you for some memorable shots
• The tour is a half day excursion so be sure to have a good breakfast before leaving
