Tropical Storm Tomas has again weakened overnight to Tropic Depression status. Tomas is now located some 400 miles south-southwest of Port-Au-Prince, Haiti with top wind speeds of 35mph. Tomas is currently moving towards the west-northwest at 5mph.
OUTLOOK Despite Tomas weakening overnight, experts from both NOAA and TWC expect Tomas to strengthen, possibly to Hurricane status on Thursday/Friday this week. They also believe Tomas will start to track North sooner rather than later. On current projection, Tomas should pass over the western side of Haiti on Friday, possibly as a Category 1 Hurricane; even so, the Dominican Republic will be subjected to heavy rains and possible flooding from Thursday to at least Sunday.
Further updates will be posted as and when they become available.
