Hurricane Tomas has been downgraded to Tropical Storm status after a night that saw its top wind speed diminish from 100mph to 50mph.
Currently located 130 miles to the northeast of Curacao, Tomas continues its path into the Caribbean at 14mph. It is possible for Tomas too be downgraded further to Tropical Depression status over the coming days however, both NOAA and TWC expect Tomas to strengthen towards the end of the week. A revised 'Projected Path' also shows Tomas making landfall in both the Dominican Republic and Haiti on Friday of this week.
