Burgos topped the scores for the Dominican Republic with 17 points while Lisvel Eve added 14 including five blocks
“We played a hot battle from the beginning to the end and the victory was for the most patient team”, stated Karla Echenique, the Dominican captain.
Chihuan, the Peruvian captain, commented: “It was a very intense match, and this is what a competition is all about, a team that wins and a team that loses. I can only say that tonight (Saturday) there is an honorable champion.”
In the match for the bronze medal, Argentina swept Mexico in straight-sets (25-10, 25-15, 25-11) with Tanya Acosta and Florencia Busquets as the best scorers with 10 and nine points respectively. Mexican Alejandra Isiordia led all the players in the match with 13 points.
