volcanoThe ban on flights in British airspace has been extended until the early hours of Monday. It has been reported that the cloud of of volcanic ash is now covering all of the UK.

Aircraft will across the UK until 0100BST (0000GMT) on Monday, with a further update expected should the be any changes. This ban left hundreds of thousands of passengers stranded across Europe since the Icelandic volcano erupted on Thursday and even more so across the globe from Los Angeles to Hong Kong.

The cost to airlines being grounded during this closure of airspace is running into the tens of millions of dollars a day, while British Airways is reporting a daily loss of £10million (US$15million) and when the "dust settles" the logisitcs of getting the planes up in the air isnt a simple one - airlines have planes grounded throughout the world due to the restriction in the European airspace so when the time does come to re-open the skies once more, many a plane will be in the wrong place.
