The U.S Department of State's Office for Consular Subjects said that the delivery of passports could take up to 2 weeks and applicants should take that information into account when planning their trips. They said that the ervice would cost from 12 to 16 US$ or the equivalent in Dominican Republic pesos, depending on where the applicant resides in the Dominican Republic.
The Department said from the 31st of August after applicants have concluded their interview with the consular official, the non-immigrant visa applicant will get a receipt which they'll have to take to the representative of the private mail, which will be located within the Consular Section offices in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
The U.S. Embassy said that the private mail's representative will be responsible for registering the applicant's shipment information into their data system. The service will be obligatory, however cases of extreme emergency or extraordinary circumstances will be granted exception.




According to the United States Embassy who has issued a statement, all non immigrant or tourist visas Section will start a private mail system to deliver passports back to Dominican applicants at the end of this month, quoting "the private mail service would be the key to obtain better administrative procedures".
