Reported at 1300BST (1200GMT - 0700 US Eastern standard time) - The UK´s airspace is now officially closed until 0700BST (0600GMT - 0100 Eastern standard time) on Friday, April 16th due to the volcanic eruption in Iceland.
Some 4,000 flights have been cancelled, including flights to and from Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark among others. The UK's air traffic control service (Nats) has reported no flights would be allowed in or out of UK airspace until 0700 BST on Friday in case of engine damage on aircraft.
The huge cloud of ash is moving southeast accross Europe and has been caused by a volcanic eruption under a glacier in the Eyjafjallajoekull area of Iceland
