After 20 years the Ferry del Caribe will finally have its own port in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The terminal will be at the Sans Souci tourist port. Ernesto Gonzalez who is president of the ferry company thanked Dominican Republic’s president Leonel Fernandez for providing the decree to build. Construction is commencing in August 2008 at an estimated cost of US$10million. The ferry routes from Dominican Republic to Puerto Rico and back again daily.
