The center of Hurricane Ike as of 5.00am this morning was located near Latitude 22.7 north…Longitude 55.8 west or about 550 miles…885KM…Northeast of the Leeward Islands. On it’s current track Hurricane Ike will continue to move over the open waters of the west central Atlantic during the next couple of days. The National Hurricane Center (NOAA) has said it is too early yet to determine what land areas might eventually be affected by Ike.
Our weather-room specialists here at therealdr.com have this to say “It seems at the moment though Ike is swaying to the north a little more which is positive news for the Dominican Republic. Tomorrow is the important day for Hurricane Ike in relation to the eventual outcome of Hurricane Ike’s landfall. At the moment it is 200 miles north of the Dominican Republic with Hurricane strength winds of 70 MPH from the center of the eye of the Hurricane which means 35MPH on each side of the eye. We are currently predicting a strong wave surge but not too high winds to affect the Dominican Republic.”
However for your own information please go to the official National Hurricane Center, people concerned with flights please contact your own airlines directly.
Tropical Storm Josephine
Josephine is still far away from the Dominican Republic with the center of Tropical Storm Josephine being currently located at Latitude 14.2 north…Longitude 31.3 West or about 465 Miles…745 KM West of the Southernmost Cape Verde Islands.
