The 11th Caribbean Tourism Market (BTC 2007) will be held May 10 to May 12 in the Jaragua Hotel in Santo Domingo with the support of the Tourism Ministry, the Berlin Tourism Fair and the Confederation of Tourism Organizations of Latin America. It will have representatives from several nations.

This year's fair will put more emphasis on the promotion of the Dominican Republic as a diving destination comparable to those of Cancún, Curaçao and Puerto Rico. BTC president Luis Felipe Aquino said the large amount of diving locations throughout the country will be promoted in a new publication called the Dominican Diving Guide. Sunken galleons are featured in the guide.

Other areas to be promoted during the BTC, which works with nontraditional markets to increase tourism mostly in low season, will be intraregional travel, multi-destination travel, real estate and second residence tourism.

A tourism journalism forum will also take place during the fair on May 11 from 9:30am to 1:30pm. It will be hosted by the Dominican Tourism Press Association (Adompretur).
