The revival of Puerto Plata on track
GERMANY - The Minister of Tourism, Francisco Javier Garcia said on Thursday that he is in favor of building a cruise terminal and commercial center in the town of Puerto Plata. He commented that he expects the responsibility of this project to be passed over to the Ministry of Tourism at any time and that once done there would be no barriers to prevent the start of this mammoth project.
He said authorities have the formula to execute in a timely manner, the construction of this important tourist cruise terminal.
Regarding the widening and reconstruction of the Puerto Plata-Navarrete highway from two to four lanes, Garcia said he spoke with the Minister of Public Works engineer Victor Diaz Rua, and was given the assurance that this work will also start very soon. He argued that this highway is of great importance to the revival of domestic tourism on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic
Garcia, who has been at the ITB in Berlin, explained that as soon as he returns to the country, he will come to Puerto Plata in order to initiate the construction of the municipal hospital of Sosua.
