The amazing "Louvre" from Paris, France will be holding an open-air exhibition in Santo Domingo the capital of the Dominican Republic. For the first time ever, life-size, high definition photographic reproductions of the masterpieces will be on show.The exhibition will be held in Santo Domingo's Parque Independencia during the months of September through to October and will feature 122 paintings. Taking part in this tremendous exhibition will be the French Embassy in the Dominican Republic, the Louvre Museum, the Cariforum Cultural Center and the Dominican Ministry of Culture.
Sponsorship has come from Brugal, Mercasid, Carrefour and Orange.
This is the world premierce of the "travelling exhibition" and after leaving Santo Domingo and the Dominican Republic, the Louvre will tour in other world cities.
The exhibition features a sample of the best of eighteenth and nineteenth century European paintings, with masterpieces on show from Flemish, Dutch, Italian and French painters.
Students, artists, critics, in fact anyone with a love of art will be able to visit the Louvre in Santo Domingo and experience first hand the best of the art world. As part of the exhibition guided tours, lectures and educational activities will be conducted.
