Special Weather Warning for Dominican Republic

Tropical Weather Disturbance over Dominican Republic 22/23 Sep 2008Information from the National Hurricane Center today has stated that their reports from an Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter Aircraft has observed a large broad low pressure area currently over the eastern side of the Dominican Republic.  Today much of the north and other parts of the DR, suffered from large amounts of rainfall.  At the moment it is difficult to say what will become of the showers and thunderstorms but they have issued a Special Tropical Disturbance Statement.  The center of the low pressure is expected to move into the Atlantic North of the Dominican Republic during the next twenty four hour period.

The National Hurricane Center are saying that it is possible that the current system could become a tropical depression at any time as it moves in a northwestward direction.  They have also stated that regardless of whether or not this system becomes a Tropical Depression or not it will continue to produce very heavy rainfall.
