The Presidency's Administrative Minister of the Dominican Republic, Luis Manuel Bonetti, said yesterday that the government does not have to sign a new agreement with the International Monetary Fund and that the Dominican Republic no longer needs that "straightjacket".
Luis Manuel Bonetti said the country met all of the IMF's requirements in the Stand by Pact.
The Pact which concludes January 31st 2008 has now reached an economic growth that constitutes an example for Latin America.
Luis Manuel Bonetti said "I already believe we must retake our economic sovereignty, which we lost because of the Dominican Revolutionary Party and the PPH," in reference to the former Dominican Administration.
