ImageAnother twist to the Dominican UN delegation in New York is shrouded by mystery and is slowly unraveling like a ball of wool as 7 different Dominican government officials all holding different positions have been suspended from their posts in the Dominican Delegation of the United Nations knitting together a whole yarn of intrigue and scandal.

A Senior Diplomat who has spilled the beans whilst requesting anonymity has confirmed the information to national Dominican Republic newspaper Diario Libre.

It has been established that 7 of the suspended, 6 are supporters of current Dominican Republic President Leonel Fernandez reelection for another term of office and the Ambassador Juan Isidro Martinez is even mentioned among those people affected by the decision to suspend.

The alternating Ambassador said to insider reporter from Diario Libre this “The decision to suspend them for an indefinite period and without pay has to do with violating the disciplinary procedures of the Foreign Ministry and the diplomatic code of ethics, BUT I cannot give you any more details”.

The source continued to tell the reporter Miguel Cruz Tejada the Ambassador Erasmo Lara is directly handling the case with the Foreign Ministry and that Martinez has in fact traveled to the Dominican Republic to deal with the sanction against him personally and to obtain his retained checks/cheques.

Martinez who President Fernandez has promised to appoint general consul in New York as of this year works together with Carlos Feliz and they are coordinating the reelection campaign for the President from the United States.

Ambassador Luis Lithgow who is the delegations second in command has denied the report, and instead called it a rumor of unknown origin.  He has continued to say that this is all just gossip but if something official does take place he will advise the inside reporter from Diario Libre.

He also said that the Foreign Ministry at Santo Domingo the capital of the Dominican Republic has issued no official notice the situation so far, and he does not know the reason why any one would spread such a rumor.

When the newshound from Diario Libre stressed that the information had been  confirmed by an alternating ambassador, Luis Lithgow seemed astonished and promised that he would investigate, though a subsequent phone call to his office to see what he had found out mysteriously failed to reach him.
