Update as from 14.15 Tuesday 23rd September 2008,

From our realdr.com weather reporter Marc in Punta Cana:

Marc has this to say "We have been informed that the airport in Punta Cana has just re-opened as earlier on today all air traffic was re-directed to La Romana airport.  Rain is still very very heavy and the new bridge which crosses the Chavon River is flooded out.  At the moment there is no road access in or out of Punta Cana and cars are at a stand still in front of the new luxury retail Plaza Palma Real as the water is approx 3 foot deep surrounding this immediate area.

Tours and excursions are thought to be cancelled for tomorrow (Wednesday 24th September 2008) due to major flooding".

We will aim to keep you updated of the flooding/high water situation in the Bavaro region.
