Organic Projects in Punta Cana Dominican RepublicThe Punta Cana Ecological Foundation has launched their organic project named "Lombricompost" which amazingly converts solid waste into a high quality soil and thus also becomes the tourism's first ever destination to use the widely popular environmental conservation technique. In the first stages of the project around 200-500 pounds of waste monthly will be processed according to Jake Kheel who is the Environmental Director of the Punta Cana Group.

He also stated that it's the first time that the specialized earthworm who performs his earthwormy job has been brought into the Dominican Republic. Rafael Tavarez of the Dominican Republic is in charge of Punta Cana's first solid waste to soil programme.

The Punta Cana Foundation is also working with "bee farms" to use the bee's capacity to pollinate local plants and therefore hoping to produce 100 percent natural honey for sale to the public.  Island famed bee keeper Pedro Castillo from the Altagracia Province is just "buzzing" with excitement and will over see the "smooth running" of the honey!

Mr Kheel concluded that the projects objectives were to use mechanisms that will be easy to implement in the hotels under environmentally sustainable management.
