Punta Cana - 4 years ago, Ricardo Velutini, a Venezuelan developer, came to the Dominican Republic to accept an invitation from some local businesses - including the Punta Cana Group. Upon his arrival to Punta Cana, he was so impressed with the quality of the airport and reception he received, he promptly announced a major project to build the "Blue Mall Punta Cana"What is planned is a 50,000sq metre commercial center, keeping with tourism in mind, a mall including upto 70 different outlets, restaurants, a museum, cinema and parking facilities for over 1,000 vehicles.
Some of the interested parties in this mammoth US$100million project are none other than Oscar de la Renta, who wishes to place his own shops and a restaurant in the center and also local businessmen Luis Emilio Velutini and Richard Serra.
