puerto-plataPuerto Plata - Public Works Minister Victor Diaz Rua, has started the construction work of the cruise terminal and commercial center of Puerto Plata. In a ceremony last week Díaz Rua started off the construction with a pneumatic drill alongside Senator Francisco Vargas Meyreles,  Mayor Walter Musa, the deputy minister of Tourism, Cesar Jose de los Santos, and Rafael Silverio Galan and Deputy Public Works, Porfirio Brito.

Diaz Rua said that the will start immediately, in order to provide Puerto Plata this mega important cruise terminal and commercial port.  The official said that there is no reason why this province, which holds great potential for tourism, could not start receiving cruise ships once more as it did in the 70s, 80s and 90s. The cost of this mammoth project is estimated at RD$1000 million (US$280 million) and is due to last around 2 years for its completion.
