cabarete-classicCabarete - Pablito Guzman’s Cabarete Classic is back once more, taking place on the beach of Cabarete in front of Vela Resorts from July 14-18th.

Pablito Guzman, a native of Cabrete, is the driving force behind this yearly event. Guzman, as well as founding and runnig this event, has for more than 20 years, competed in contests all over the world and has won several national titles and his amazing talent has been articled in many a magazine and newspaper. His main dedication is to help the local community and helping disadvantaged children to be able to learn and participate in the great sport of windsurfing.


The categories for this years Cabarete Classic are -
  • Mini-Juniors Girls Slalom (13 and Under)
  • Mini-Juniors Basic Slalom (13 and Under)
  • Mini-Juniors Pro Kids Slalom (13 and Under)
  • Juniors Slalom (14 to 17)
  • Mini-Juniors Freestyle  (13 and Under)
  • Women's Slalom
  • Open Class Slalom
  • Sport Class Slalom (first time racers, fun racers, beginners)
  • Open Class Formula
  • Open Class Freestyle
  • Long Distance Race (open to windsurfers, kitesurfers and laser class)

2006 saw the first Cabarete Classic, and has since taken place each year with its main goal to keep the spirit of cabarete-classic-2windsurfing alive in Cabarete and to introduce a new generation of windsurfers to fellow competitors from around the world.

The program of events is as follows -
  • Day 1 will be devoted to registration and preparation
  • Days 2, 3, & 4 will be racing days with races typically starting at 10:30am and running through to 6:30pm each day.
  • Day 5 will be the long distance race which starts in Cabarete and ends in Puerto Plata.
