Oscar de la Renta backs President Leonel Fernandezs re-election bid.
World famous designer Oscar de la Renta confirmed his support of Leonel Fernandez’s bid for re-election in 2008. Victory would secure President Fernandez 4 more years in government and the opportunity to continue the “great work” that he has been responsible for, particularly within the international arena. Oscar de la Renta also stressed the importance of the Dominican Republic within the Caribbean and stated that it had much to offer it’s tourists by virtue of it’s diversity and of the
friendliness of the Dominican people.
He also pointed out that because of the potential of the Dominican Republic within the global tourism, it was not unusual for the destination to bear the brunt of jealousy from other regions. It is in fact a very real fact that some destinations within the tourism industry can often create negative publicity campaigns against other destinations as a way of bolstering their own position within the global market.
