Edwin Paraison, ex-Haitian consul in the Dominican Republic, rejects claims that all Dominicans are racist when it comes to their Haitian neighbours and feels those defending Haitian immigration rights exaggerate the issue by using this label.

He feels there is a relatively small group in the Dominican Republic that uses the supposed danger posed by Haitian immigrants to further their cause.
