Oh...another tax
Ok, so there are Tourist Cards to purchase here and taxes there, and taxes everywhere...Here´s a new one..Any non US citizen travelling to the US will soon have to pay a US$10 charge to use the Esta online immigration system. A new law was recently passed by the US Senate and the vote in favor of the "Travel Promotion Act" clears the way for the creation of a new organisation to promote the US as a destination around the world.
The organisation will be partly funded by the introduction of the US$10 fee to use the Esta (Electronic System for Travel Authorisation) immigration form which all non-US citizens travelling to the US have to fill in online at least 72 hours before travelling to there.
Once admin charges and credit card charges are added, the cost could rise to between $15-$17
So, the writers question is...How long will it be before other countries jump on the same bandwagon??
