haiti-earthquakePort Au Prince - Haiti. A 28 year old man was found alive yesterday alive under rubble of a building in Haiti, where he had been trapped since 12 January when the earthquake hit that devastated the country.

TV reporters said the man, identified as Evan Muncie, was found in the rubble of a market where rice was sold and when he was found, Muncie was dehydrated and malnourished, but apparently had no serious injuries.

Dr. Mike Connelly, Medishare project of the University of Miami reported that Muncie had open wounds on both feet with ulcers and had not eaten in more than 3 weeks. The man told doctors that someone had given him water while he was trapped, but as doctors reported Muncie is visibly confused and at times believed to still be trapped under the rubble.

The discovery has been almost a month after the earthquake of 7 magnitude on the Richter scale that struck the country, razed its capital, Port au Prince, and left more than 200,000 dead and thousands of victims.

The Government of Haiti did terminate the search and rescue efforts on 23 January to focus on debris removal and medical care, but yesterdays rescue suggests there is maybe room for hope.
