iraqi-airwaysLondon Gatwick Airport - England. The first commercial flight between Baghdad and London in 20 years has turned into a complete nightmare for Iraq. The Iraqi Airways boss, Kifah Hassan, had his passport taken from him and the Swedish chartered aircraft flying the route Baghdad via Malmo was impounded.

The papers were served to Hassan by lawyers acting on behalf of Kuwait Airways which claims it is owed US$1.2billion after the invasion of Kuwait in 1990 when the airline had 10 aircraft destroyed by the Iraqi army. When the chartered aircraft arrived in London the lawyers from Kuwait tried to seize it, but failed, because it belongs to a Swedish Airline (Tor Air)
