midweek-satelliteA tropical wave located over the canal de los vientos is interacting with a trough located on the southwest portion of the of the Dominican Republic making weather conditions favorable for the occurrence of scattered showers with isolated thunderstorms and gusty winds to the Northeast, Southeast, Southwest, Central and Cordillera Border Area. Temperatures remain warm, due to the prevailing east-southeast wind dragging moisture into Dominican territory.


Tropical Storm Danielle was downgraded from hurricane briefly but has now strengthened once more. Its center is located about 1210 kilometers east of the Lesser Antilles, moving west-northwest at about 28 mph, with maximum winds of 140 kilometers per hour. The trajectory models indicate that Hurricane Danielle tomorrow will be toward the northeast of the Lesser Antilles.

The National Meteorological Office (ONAMET) continues to monitor an area of low pressure south of the Cape Verde islands. The latest studies show that this system is becoming better organized with a 90% chance to reach the category of tropical cyclone at any time.
