President Leonel Fernandez sarcastically joked about cholera when saying
he will ravage his adversaries with diarrhea and other symptoms when “the lion hits the street,” comparing the lion to his name.
Yesterday, members of the opposition PRD Party condemned Leonel's statement insisting (the disease that has killed nearly 1000 people in Haiti) his words have made a mockery of the epidemic.
PLD Party Deputy Lupe Núñez was quick to defend the President insisting “It’s in the figurative sense of the word, as you understand, he wanted to simply say that the PRD would even get diarrhea when it sees the lion, and that’s the least of it.”
