Leonel Fernandez Seeks Re-Election

Current Dominican Republic President Leonel Fernandez is putting himself forward to be re-elected for a second term of office during next Sunday's meeting, being held by the ruling PLD party's Central Committee.

His name will be put forward along with others hoping to to apsire to Presidential candidacy for next May 16th, 2008 Dominican Republic elections.

Labor Minister Jose Ramon Monchi Fadul who is a member of the Political Committee said that they were "looking for a formula to present all the candidates in a single ticket".

At the moment the pre-candidate names stand as Leonel Fernandez (Current President of the Dominican Republic), Ex-Presidency's Chief of Staff Danielo Medina, the Ex Senator Jose Tomas Perez, and also Elias Serulle from Santiago.

To qualify as a PLD official pre-election candidate all hopefuls must first obtain 33% of the Central Committee's votes.
