According to a survery conducted by Penn, Schoen and Berland Associates, it looks like Mr Leonel Fernandez could win the May 2008 elections in the first or second round.

The poll, presented on Tuesday in a press conference held at the Melia Hotel found that if the presidential elections were held today, then Fernendez is a sure winner with at least 40 to 50 percent of the total votes.

The opposition party the PRD and their candidate Miguel Vargas Maldonado would receive 35 percent of the votes and the PRSC party and their candidate Amable Aristy would get a just an 11 percent of the votes.
