dominican-schoolSanto Domingo - Education Minister, Melanio Paredes, has reported that 90% of the nation's public schools are ready for the start of the school year scheduled for next Tuesday 17 August.

He explained that in relation to the percentage of schools that are not ready, that they are making "great efforts" to deliver on time. He explained that schools such as the Engombe, Oviedo, in the province of Santo Domingo, among others have had difficulties for many years and that his ministry is looking for the solution.


He asserted that in the case of the School "La Chocolatera", in Puerto Plata is in deplorable conditions, and the government will build an emergency classroom while seeking suitable land for construction.

Furthermore, Paredes said the results of the second round of the National Tests for students in eighth grade and Basic, were successfully concluded last Friday.
