U.S. Diplomat Richard Holbrooke has died after fighting a tear in his aorta for the past three days. Holbrooke was the special U.S. representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan and close aid to President Obama.

Messages of condolence have been recieved from both Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari.
