SANTO DOMINGO - The weather system that has been bringing rains to the Dominican Republic over the past week, has left behind it, among other things, a heat wave. Temperatures for June usually hover around the 32-34ºC mark but even today as per our weather forecast, these are expected to his as high as 38ºC in the Dominican Capital. The cause of this heat wave is the south-easterly tradewinds coming up from the Caribbean sea as opposed to the normal westerly winds.
Citizens and tourists alike are being advised to drink plenty of fluids, especially water and to wear light clothing and hats or caps. Remember, if you are here or soon to arrive on vacation, the sun is at its strongest between 11am-2pm and you can still burn even if it is cloudy. If you have kids, make sure they are well protected with a high SPF suncream and that they wear hats and drink plenty of fluids...and whats more...Have Fun!
