Haitian President visits The Dominican Republic

Haitian President, Rene PrevalThe Haitian President, Rene Preval made a whirl wind tour to the Dominican Republic on Thursday and met with the President of the DR Mr Leonel Fernandez.  Preval’s visit only lasted 9 hours on Dominican soil and included meetings with the President, also the Santo Domingo State University which is also known as UASD, and a quick stop at the Global Foundation, Democracy and Development Centre.  Preval arrived in the Dominican Republic at around 10.20am on Thursday morning at Las Americas airport.

 

After being picked up by officials from the airport in Santo Domingo he met with officials from the Foreign Relations Ministry and officials from Haiti’s embassy in the Dominican republic.

The Haitian leader boarded a Dominican Air Force helicopter which then flew to the National Palace to meet with Fernandez.  The two heads of States were to participate in the ceremonies to mark the 100th anniversary of Haitian intellectual Jacques Roumain’s birth.

He returned to Port au Prince at 7.00pm in time for dinner.
