Good news for tea drinkers
Ok..so this is not your regular news article, but it is the weekend! So the writer thinks that something should be written about something close to his heart...TEA! The below is based on tea that is drunk as it should be...no milk, no sugar!
Apparently researchers have reported that drinking three or more cups of tea a day is as good for you as drinking water, and could have extra health benefits on top.
Many people think that tea dehydrates, on the contrary...not only does it rehydrate as well as water, but it can also protect against heart disease and some cancers report the researchers. The key ingredient in tea (flavonoids) are antioxidants that promote health and prevent cell damage. They found evidence that drinking three to four cups of tea a day can also cut the chances of having a heart attack. Other health benefits seen included protection against tooth plaque and potentially tooth decay, plus bone strengthening.
Did you know that a cup of tea also contains fluoride, which is good for the teeth but not advisable for brushing your teeth with! There was no evidence that tea consumption was harmful to health. However, research suggests that tea can impair the body's ability to absorb iron from food, meaning people at risk of anaemia should avoid drinking tea around mealtimes.
With the United Kingdom being the worlds largest consumer of tea (approximately 160 million cups consumed each day!! - that´s an average of 2 cups per person) only thing is, is the Brits like their tea with milk and sugar which increases the fat and carbo content of the tea....
