Dominican First Lady Margarita Cedeño will receive the "Global Information Society" award from the International Telecommunications Union at a ceremony to be held tomorrow in Geneva.
Her award is in recognition of her efforts in providing technological services to some of the poorest regions in the country and encouraging IT projects that benefit women thus allowing these parts of the population to become active participants in the process of economic, social and cultural development. She has contributed to the creation of 135 information technology centres.
Other recipients of this years award are Russian professor Mark Krivocheev and president of Mozilla Corporation Mitchell Baker.
