Fernandez and Obama meet Monday
Washington - Dominican President Leonel Fernandez will be received today at 1410hrs pm by his U.S. counterpart, Barack Obama at the White House, and will be "Discussing a wide range of bilateral and hemispheric issues as part of an ongoing engagement with leaders from throughout the Americas on the most important issues facing people throughout the region." At the end of the meeting at 1440hrs Fernandez and Obama will give a press conference to report on the points discussed in their meeting.Prior to his White House meeting, the Dominican president will meet with World Bank President Robert Zoellick at the banks headquarters and will also hold a brief meeting with Hillary Clinton, or her deputy.
President Fernandez arrived in New York on Saturday from France, where he also had a busy schedule and prior to France was also in Germany and will complete his visit to the US tomorrow with a visit to the George Washington University.
In a statement released Friday by the U.S. government, it was reported that the United States enjoys a long and close relationship with the Dominican Republic and its people, who have made significant contributions to the U.S. and the continent.
