Dominican Ultra Distance Swimmer on stage 3 of linking world
Santo Domingo - Marcos Diaz, the Dominican ultra distance swimmer is on the 3rd stage in his attempt to link the globes 5 continents by water - Diaz will attempt to swim across the Gibraltar Straights from Morocco to the popular tourist island of TenerifeHe has already succeeded in swimming between Papua New Guinea and Indonesia to link Australia and Asia and then Asia with Africa, swimming the Red Sea between Jordan and Egypt.
All these challenges Diaz is attempting is to bring attention to the world the knowledge and promotion on the United Nation’s Millennium Development Goals. Quoted in a press conference on Tuesday, Diaz said “if a person can swim from one country or from one continent to another, that shows that we aren’t so far apart."
His next challenge will be to swim from Africa to Europe at the end of July, but no exact date has been set as Diaz and his team are carefully monitoring weather conditions in the area.
