Dominican Republic Swimmer is a Winner!

Marcos Diaz Dominican Republic swimmerA swimmer from the Dominican Republic, Marcos Diaz, swam for 20 hours around the island of Manhattan - TWICE! Famed for his endurance as a long distance swimmer the young athlete finally stepped out of the cold waters at 4.44pm.  Thousands of Dominicans had gathered to watch this world record holder and to cheer him on.

The crowd chanted "Si se Puede" which means "Yes It Can Be Done", as Marcos Diaz swam twice around Manhattan island.  Many people waited though the night at the Dackyman Pier in Washington Heights to welcome back this remarkable long distance swimmer.

Diaz also hold a world record for swiming across the Straights of Gibraltar twice!
