Punta Cana Dominican RepublicThe figures are in for last year’s tourist season of 2007, and the Dominican Republic has completely surpassed all other Caribbean islands in receiving a record number of tourists.  Figures come from the Caribbean Tourist Organization or the CTO. More than 3 million travelers were welcomed to the Dominican Republic during January to October of 2007; these figures do not even include the many thousands of tourists who came to the Hispaniola shores via cruise boat.

Figures are already stacking high according to Tour Operators with advance bookings for Spring Break 2008.  The Dominican Republic is such a diverse island offering travelers budget to boutique hotel opportunities, all inclusive to private villa rental.. It is not just the warm beautiful shores either that are attracting tourists, the Championship Golf Courses, wide variety of water sports, and also non stop night life all seem to create a magical holiday environment that has first time travellers to the DR coming back for more!
