Blue Sky Agreement between Canada & Dominican RepublicThe Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities Mr Lawrence Cannon and The Minister of International Trade Mr Michael M Fortier from Canada announced the conclusion of a new Blue Skies bilateral air transport agreement with the Dominican Republic.  The new agreement will allow airlines from both Canada and the Dominican Republic to serve any cities in each retrospective countries with their own aircraft and code-sharing services.  This new rules applies for both passenger airlines and cargo flights too.  Air carriers can freely decide the frequency of services and prices to be offered.

Lawence Cannon said "This agreement is another step forward in the implemention of Canada's Blue Sky International Air Transportation Policy which was put in place to open air transport markets.  It will be beneficial for travelers and shippers, airports and airlines of both countries".

The Dominican Republic is one of Canada's largest air travel markets and also an important tourism destination for Canadians.  In conjunction with flights between Canada and the Dominican Republic, services may be offered to and from "third" countries also.
