ImageSANTO DOMINGO - The country celebrates the Constitution of the Republic’s 165th anniversary on Monday November 9th, with diverse acts organized by the National Congress, the Patriotic Events Commission and the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD).

The Dominican Republic's Ministry of Labor (Secretaría de Estado de Trabajo - SET) has confirmed that Friday, November 6, 2009, the annual Día de la Constitución Dominicana, would be a regular working day, and that the corresponding public holiday would be observed on Monday, November 9th, 2009.

As is tradition, the National Congress sessions from 10:00 AM, in the halls of government at San Cristóbal, site of the drafting of the first Constitution, November 6, 1844.

This activity will be headed by the presidents of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, and the director of Patriotic Events Commission, with the acts beginning at 6:00 PM in San Cristóbal
