Dominican Holiday - Virgen de la Altagracia

Today, 21st January represents the Virgen de la Altagracia dia, translated as Virgin of the Altagracia Day that is celebrated in the Dominican Republic. The holiday spans until Tuesday, 25th January.

The day is in recognition of Mary who is regarded as the "Mother Protector and Spirit" Of the Dominican Republic.

Most stores will be closed until Tuesday and huge fiesta's will take place this long weekend around the country, particularly at the beach.

The realdr.com will resume normal news service on Tuesday.
