Deliquency takes another victim
Santo Domingo - Dr. Sergio Rojas Rafael Soriano (Sarito) left his home early, as was his daily routine, to exercise near his home around the Botanical Gardens of the Dominican Capital. Unfortunately crime in the Capital added one more victim to its list yesterday as several men on two motorcycles approached the doctor-physiatrist, and shot to kill - Rojas Soriano left four children orphaned. On Tuesday evening 2 people were arrested in connection with the shooting of the doctor but as of yet no weapon has been recovered. Preliminary investigations ruled out robbery because the victim still had on his posession his BlackBerry, a class ring from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), a watch, wallet, driver's license, a copy of his car registration, 3 credit cards and a gun carrying license.
Police reported that the 4 men shot the doctor behind the Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU). At the site of the crime police found four 9mm shells. The doctor, 52, was the father of four children, two of whom are minors. The eldest are in the US accompanied by his mother.
The Sarito had an office in the Diagnostic and Specialty Center Medical Center UCE, where staff mourned his tragic death. He also worked in the armed forces working at a health center in Punta Cana.
