Cathedral in the Colonial Zone,, Santo Domingo, Dominican RepublicThe Colonial Zone in the Dominican Republic at the heart of the nations capital has received a massive clean up campaign, and after a tremendous amount of hard work from people in the municipal authorities department, it is back to its former glory, some say the Colonial Zone looks even better and places once ignored seem to be now uncovered treasures that visitors previously ignored. The Colonial Zone in the Dominican Republic is safe, clean and super family friendly and a fantastic place to wander around.

The beauty of the ancient buildings can once again be seen as workers have removed trash and garbage pile ups, local street vendors have been removed by the Tourism Police and the whole zone has become a tourist friendly hot spot.  The entire zone has become improved and hassle free.

The Colonial Zone in the Dominican Republic is a great option for families to enjoy as it offers alot of attractions for children to run and play around the ancient buildings, big centennial trees offer plenty of shade for a quick snooze or picnic and for the more serious history buffs you may find yourself needing more than just the few hours you have alloted yourself and find that you will be coming back.
