Santo Domingo - Kathleen Martinez, is convinced she will soon find Cleopatra´s tomb...The Dominican archaeologist-ex attorney is working with a Dominican-Egyptian team just west of the port city of Alexandria. Together, they have found Egypt´s largest cemetery, full of artefacts and a series of 40-45 tombs cut into the rock 35 metres below the ground.

Martinez has been searching the region on and off for 4 years, but have recently had to suspend operations due to extreme heat, sometimes reaching as high as 40 or more centigrade. Along with the heat, the presence of scorpions and snakes makes it a very hazardous working environment.

Martinez and her team have been given full support by Zahi Hawas - Secretary General of Egypt´s Supreme Council of Antiquities and she is reported to be over the moon of the enthusiasm of the Egyptian crew she works with as she feels they are searching for their Queen who died in 30AC.

The area where the teams are working has been excavated since 1831 by some of the world´s most well known archaeologists is holding many a secret and it is also reported that some of the mummies are very well preserved.

The Discovery Channel is going to be filming the excavation, and the magazine National Geographic will publish a feature on her work.
