In light of the Cholera outbreak in Haiti, the Dominican Republic Government led by President Leonel Fernandez has taken the decision to seal the Haitian border with 1500 Army troops patrolling the most vulnerable zones.
Army Chief of staff Carlos Alberto Rivera said “In addition to the military who watch the border and the commanders of the different posts, from Pepillo Salcedo to Pedernales, we have added 500 more troops to seal off the traffic of people across the border definitively".
