The two most wanted fugitives in the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, Jose David Figueroa Agosto and Sobieda Felix Morel were arrested yesterday in Santurce, Puerto Rico, in an operation organized by the various investigative bodies of the United States.Agosto´s arrest occurred around 11:30 am Loisa Santurce complex in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in an operation that ended eleven years of searching. After his arrest, Figueroa Agosto was taken to DEA headquarters and from there to a federal court on the island where he said "everything is fine" when reporters asked how he felt.
8 hours Figueroa's arrest, authorities surrounded an apartment looking for Agosto´s companion Felix Morel Sobeida and moments later she also surrendered to authorities in the company of a lawyer.
The Charges against Agosto and Sobieda
After making a mockery of Dominican Immigration and law enforcment officers both fleed to Puerto Rico after providing false information - Agosto is being charged with many drug-related investigations by the FBI and the DEA and is also accused of leading a powerful network of drug trafficking and money laundering in the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. The prosecution accuses him of conspiracy, money laundering, drug trafficking and fruadulent document processing while Sobeida Felix is accused of conspiracy, money laundering and possession and possession of illegal firearms.
