gordon-brownLondon, England - After 13 years as Prime Minister of the UK, Gordon Brown has officialy resigned. Mr Brown officially tendered his resignation to the Queen at Buckingham Palace, with Conservative leader David Cameron set to be his successor.

Standing on he steps of the famous Number 10 Downing Street - Gordon Brown made his 3 minute speech alongside his wife Sarah and commented that his job had been "a privilege" and wished his successor well. He has also stepped down as Labour leader and will be replaced by deputy Harriet Harman until a successor is elected, but he will remain as a backbench MP in Parliament.


Brown´s speech came as the oppostion parties, the Tories and Liberal Democrats, are due to agree a deal to form a government. Mr Brown said his decision to resign was after concluding he would not be able to form a government after days of talks between the oppostion parties.
