For all you beer lovers out there, it wont be long until you can get your favorite brand, Presidente, in many a Caribbean country!

The Dominican National Brewery (CND or Cerveceria Dominicana) has started to operate with the businesses that it acquired in late 2009. The CND aqcuired the Danish company, Royal Unibrew, for a sum of US$31 million which has a majority holding in the production and sales of beers, water, soft drinks and malt drinks in St. Vincent, Antigua, and Dominica who have breweries that are market leaders in their respective countries.

The Presidente brand is due to be marketed and sold in these countries as well and will be listed as a "premium" segment of the market as the "true flavor of the Caribbean."

The CND exports to Cuba and Haiti but this is being impaired by the amount of contraband crossing the Dominican-Haitian border, but it is reported that the amount that Haiti consumes in a year is equivalent to what the Dominicans consume in 2 months

The Presidente brand has been in Cuba also since August 2009, and the market seems to be thriving and is also huge in the US.

So, even though we would prefer it that you were here with us in the DR to get your ice-cold beer, you can now get it across the Caribbean!
